Prepare an SD Card

Prerequisites

To create a Great Bear node from a Raspberry Pi, you will need:

  • The Raspberry Pi Imager application.
  • Access to the Internet either using Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection.
  • Access to the Internet needs to be via IPv4.
  • A microSD card. We recommend capacity of at least 16GB.

Follow these steps to prepare an SD card for use with Great Bear.

Steps

  1. Obtain an Ubuntu 22.04 Server image built specifically for Raspberry Pi from Ubuntu
    • Ensure you select the server version, currently Ubuntu Server 22.04.1 LTS.
  2. Write the image to an SD card with the Raspberry Pi Imager.
  3. Insert the SD card into the Raspberry Pi and switch it on. If you are not familiar with the Raspberry Pi, see our guide on Assembling a Raspberry Pi.
  4. Next you need to Configure and bootstrap the Great Bear node.
